Name: Tom RobertsLast Summer we updated the bylaws to allow more races in the Nationals, fixed references to update them and allowed a new mast section in order to support building new boats. The new mast secton is a commercially available section from Dwyer Mast. It will still be rigged with the diamond struts, but has a sail slot instead of a track. Existing or new sails will use a plastic slide (bullet slide) instead of the track guide. This means we can buy one mast or 30 from Dwyer and they will remain available. The original mast was a unique section for which the plug has been lost. Years ago we changed the boom section to a commercially available section, allso made by Dwyer and that has worked well. No boats will be out dated by this change.

Folks,
I could use tips on mooring my #359 (built by Newport) in saltwater, e.g.
1. Best way to protect centerboard well from barnicles other than reaching down with a brush now and again.
2. Is there any downside to using antifouling bottom paint?
3. Where to drill hole for pump access. I was told by Roger Moorman once that midway between mast and CB trunk (if I remember correctly). My boat has a raised rounded ridge there and I wonder if drilling a 2 inch hole there could be a problem, i.e. unduly weaken it.
4. Is there a better way to find leaks than blowing a vacuum cleaner exhaust into drain hole and soaping it up while looking for soap bubbles, as the late Bob Stein taught me to do? [Caution: hold exhaust a few inches away from drain hole lest you blow the boat apart.]
I just moved to Salem MA and am trying to figure out the best and easy way to sail. Unfortunately, we do not have boat trailer parks along the shore around here - the shorelines are completely built up. I have had the boat since 1970 and have had a great time trailiering it here and there for day cruising. Now, at age 74, I am trying to get back into it again. We had a great sail last Sunday out to a local recreation park on an island. My 12-year old granddaughter was along with her mother who long ago was sailing with me at the same age! We left it on a mooring I bought for 5 days and it took on about 8 gallons, so I do need to set up a pump and find/fix leaks.
The previous sail was a year earlier in quite a stiff breeze. We planed along beautifully for about half an hour until the jib halyard let go and a rudder pintle broke. I got those fixed this past month.
That Mobjack is one beautiful boat. I love it.
